Olfactive Description: Woody, Earthy, Dry, Herbal
A distinctive, earthy scent, Patchouli, pogostemon cablin, is a fragrant plant in the mint family; the leaves are steam distilled to produce our earthy Patchouli (Dark) essential oil. Dark patchouli has a richer, longer lasting scent than light patchouli. In handmade blends, we recommend using it as a base note; however, it stands on its own without the use of other essential oils.
We recommend this essential oil for use in ambience-setting candles, wax melts, tarts, and reed diffusers. It also performs well in bar and liquid soap, scrubs, and lotion.
Candle Maker’s Notes:
We’ve found that this essential oil has a medium hot throw in candles, rating two leaves out of three on our soy performance scale. When lit, candles made with this essential oil produce a pleasant, earthy scent.
